PIFM at SIRIM Workshop on the Revision of the 4th Schedule of Act 520 CIDB
On 27th June 2024, PIFM was represented by President Mr. Lee Han Koon and Mr. Kong Kok Meng at the SIRIM workshop discussing the revision of the 4th Schedule of Act 520 CIDB. The workshop, held at Dewan Serbaguna SIRIM Berhad from 9 AM to 5 PM, focused on key updates to regulations impacting high-risk construction materials and standards in Malaysia.
The objectives of updating the Fourth Schedule are as follows:
a) To enforce products/materials that pose high safety risks in construction or for other reasons;
b) To ensure that the standards being enforced are available and relevant to compliance in Malaysia;
c) To ensure the availability of existing testing facilities and certification bodies in the country for testing the products/materials to be enforced;
d) To assess the readiness of industry players for the proposed products/materials and standards through engagement sessions with the industry.
